Kinetic Energy

KE — Moving Energy

Eₖ = ½mv²

Mass × velocity squared, halved. Velocity matters MORE — doubling v quadruples Eₖ!

🔑 KEY: v is SQUARED → 2×speed = 4×energy
Gravitational PE

GPE — Height Energy

Eg = mgh

Mass × gravity (9.8 m/s²) × height. Linear — double height = double energy.

🔑 KEY: g = 9.8 m/s² always
Elastic PE

Spring Energy

Eel = ½kx²

Spring constant × compression squared, halved. x is compression distance.

Work-Energy Theorem

Work = ΔEnergy

W = F × d

Force times displacement. Work done BY a force = change in kinetic energy.

🔑 KEY: W = ΔEₖ (no friction) or W_net
Conservation of Energy

Total Energy = Constant

Ei = Ef (no friction)

Energy transforms but never disappears. With friction: Ei = Ef + Eth (heat).

🔑 KEY: Lost energy → thermal (heat)
Thermal Energy

Friction Heat Loss

Eth = Ei − Ef

Energy "lost" to friction becomes heat. Never truly lost — just transferred.
