Key Concepts to Remember — 7 Topics
🦴 1. Order of Operations
Always solve in this order: Parentheses → Multiply/Divide → Add/Subtract (left to right).
P → M/D → A/S
Q: What is 3 + 4 × 2?
A: 4 × 2 = 8 first, then 3 + 8 = 11
🌱 2. Factors, Multiples & Primes
Factor: divides evenly into a number. Multiple: a number times another. Prime: has only 2 factors (1 and itself).
LCM(4,6) = 12 | Factors of 24: 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,24
Q: Is 37 prime? Q2: LCM of 4 and 6?
A: 37 is Prime | A2: LCM = 12
🧊 3. Fractions
To add/subtract fractions: find a common denominator first. Equivalent fractions have the same value.
1/3 + 1/4 = 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12
Q: Which equals 3/4? A) 6/9   B) 9/12
A: 9/12 (9÷12 = 3÷4)
💧 4. Decimals
Line up the decimal points when adding/subtracting. Multiply like whole numbers, then count decimal places.
0.34 + 0.70 = 1.04 | 2.5 × 4 = 10
Q: 2.5 × 4 = ?
A: 25 × 4 = 100, shift 1 decimal = 10.0
🧮 5. Ratios & Percentages
A ratio compares two quantities. A percentage is a ratio out of 100.
8:12 = 2:3 | 25% of 80 = 0.25 × 80 = 20
Q: 25% of 80 = ?
A: 80 × 0.25 = 20
🧩 6. Variables & Equations
A variable is a letter standing for an unknown. To solve, do the opposite operation to both sides.
x + 7 = 15 → x = 15 - 7 = 8
Q: If x = 5, what is 3x + 2?
A: 3(5) + 2 = 15 + 2 = 17
📐 7. Geometry, Data & Coordinates
Area = l × w | Perimeter = 2(l+w) | Mean = sum ÷ count | Quadrant IV: (+, −)
Area(9,6) = 54 | P(8,5) = 26 | Mean(4,6,8,10,12) = 8
Q: Area of rectangle 9 × 6?
A: 9 × 6 = 54
